Blind Drill is live: practice the decision before seeing the outcome

See how blind trading practice hides the ticker and date, grades your rules and works with the trial and plans.

Abstract candlesticks behind a yellow blindfold illustrate Blind Drill practice without a visible ticker or date.

Blind Drill is live with a simple test: can you follow your own trading rules when you do not know which stock you are watching or what happened next? It replays historical market days with virtual money, hides the ticker and date in blind mode, and grades discipline alongside the trading results.

The result is not a forecast of your live performance. It is a record of decisions you can inspect. A simulated winning trade can still contain an oversized position, a missing stop or a chase. The scorecard keeps those mistakes visible.

How a Blind Drill session works

Open a blind drill and the platform chooses a lively day. For stocks, that means the first two hours moved at least as much as that stock's typical day in the library. Stock drills begin at 09:30 ET. Crypto drills begin at 13:30 UTC.

The server releases historical 1-minute bars one step at a time. Future bars stay hidden during the session. You can play, pause or advance one bar, then place a virtual long or short order. Playback speeds are 1, 2, 4 or 10 bars per second; chart timeframes are 1, 2, 5 and 15 minutes.

There is no fixed drill length. Pause when you need to think and end when you have enough to review. Afterward, the remaining day appears in grey. Blind mode also reveals the ticker and date. Members who want a specific exercise can instead choose a stock or crypto pair, a date from the library and their own start time.

The walkthrough explains the controls. Start with the synthetic demo day if you want to learn the screen first. It is clearly marked DEMO, is not a real stock and requires no account.

Set the rules before the first fill

Rules are editable until the first fill, then locked for that session. The defaults are a $25,000 virtual account, 1% maximum risk per trade, a 3% maximum daily loss, no more than 3 trades and a chasing threshold of 1.5% from VWAP. These are configurable training settings, not recommended limits for a live account.

Choose market, limit or stop orders, with an optional stop loss and take profit. "Size to my risk" calculates the quantity from your stop distance and risk limit. Before placing an order, the preview shows dollar risk, account percentage, reward and the risk to reward ratio.

The model matters. Market orders fill at the next bar's open plus slippage. A stop and target touched within the same bar are resolved conservatively: the stop is assumed to happen first. There is no tick data or Level 2 order book, so this is practice with bars, not a reproduction of every live execution detail.

The score asks what you actually did

Discipline starts at 100. Entering without a stop or continuing after the daily loss limit each subtracts 20 points. Exceeding per-trade risk, moving a stop further away or adding to a losing position each subtracts 15. Chasing beyond your VWAP threshold, re-entering within 3 minutes after a losing exit or exceeding your trade limit each subtracts 10.

Rule breaks are listed with their times. The scorecard also shows gross and net P&L, commissions, win rate, average R multiple, expectancy per trade, profit factor, drawdown and the trade list. Expectancy here means the average net dollar result per trade in the session; a short sample does not establish an edge.

Members can revisit their session history and recent average discipline score. Anonymous demo results remain in that browser. The useful question is specific: which action will you change in the next drill?

Know what the data includes

Stock bars use actual trades on IEX. Volume counts only IEX trades, so it can look lower than consolidated charts. Coverage runs from 04:00 to 16:00 ET, without after-hours; stock VWAP starts at 09:30 ET. The rolling library covers roughly the last month, with a new day added each trading day.

Crypto prices come from decentralized trading pools and can differ from centralized exchanges. Crypto days and VWAP start at 00:00 UTC, and quantities may be fractional. All replay data is at least one trading day old. Market data cannot be exported or downloaded.

The trial, plans and limits are explicit

A new email gets 7 days of full access, with no card and no automatic charge when the trial ends. Sign-in uses a one-time email link that expires in 30 minutes. After the trial, real-day drills pause unless you choose a plan; history stays saved and the demo remains open.

Every plan has the same features. Monthly costs $15 and renews monthly. Yearly costs $99, about $8.25 a month, and renews yearly. Founders lifetime costs $149 once, is personal and nontransferable, and provides access for as long as Blind Drill runs. It is limited to the first 100 buyers; pricing shows the live availability.

Paddle.com is the reseller and Merchant of Record. It handles checkout, taxes, receipts and billing changes; applicable tax may be added. Cancel through the account page to stop future renewals while keeping access through the paid period. A full refund is available on request within 14 days of any payment.

Blind Drill is not a broker and provides no signals or investment advice. Read the risk disclosure before treating a replay result as evidence about real trading. Then choose one habit from the day trading guide, run a blind drill and review whether you followed it.
